About Michele.

”Sometimes in life, the risk you are afraid to take is the one that changes your entire life”

-Kylie Francis

This quote perfectly captures Michele’s journey into the world of art. Her passion for painting emerged at a time when she faced a health hurdle that changed her path and allowed her the space to discover and embrace her creativity. It may have come later in life, but she believes the timing was perfect. With experience as an athlete, professional trainer, and outdoor enthusiast, Michele has always been comfortable with the uncomfortable. That mindset gave her the confidence to think outside the box, embrace uncertainty, and not let fear of failure hold her back.

“Embrace the chaos, laugh at the imperfections, and just go for it”

-Michele Doucette

What started as an unexpected artistic discovery has now evolved into something much greater.

A mission to use creativity as a way to foster connection, build community, and give back in a meaningful and impactful way. Michele believes that art has the power to bring people together, spark important conversations, and inspire change—and that is the foundation of her work.

As a self-taught artist, Michele is drawn to painting mountains and wildlife that reflect her most meaningful experiences. Her mountainscapes capture the essence of adventure, evoking the feeling of being immersed in the natural world rather than simply replicating a photograph. Her wildlife paintings are deeply personal, often symbolizing the relationships, memories, and emotions that shape her journey. Through bold textures, layered brushstrokes, and a carefully curated palette, Michele creates pieces that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant. She invites viewers to connect with her work, to see themselves in the stories she paints, and to feel the depth of meaning behind each piece…

“Art holds a mirror up to your soul”

-Michele Doucette

Michele’s artistic path has been a whirlwind.

Her work has been recognized with Silver and Bronze Awards in international art competitions, and she has built an extensive portfolio of commissioned pieces, mountain landscapes, and wildlife paintings. Michele has collaborated with another local artist with two successful art shows at Porsche Center Calgary and a solo Exhibition at Art Gallery Kimberley.

Beyond creating, Michele is passionate about using her art to make a difference. She frequently donates artwork to raise funds for local non-profits, finding ways to use her creativity to support important causes. Additionally, she continues this mission through her children’s book, Fenn’s Giant Blue Secret, which she illustrated and co-authored with Lindsay Bath. Through this book, she continues to follow through on her vision of using creativity to give back and bring people and communities together.

Based in Calgary, Michele is grateful for her proximity to the mountains, where she finds endless inspiration. Her creative process is a reflection of her own journey: embracing bold choices pushing past fear, and always staying true to what matters most. Whether she is painting, collaborating, or supporting a cause, one thing remains constant—her belief that creativity, when used with purpose, has the power to create lasting impact.

Above all, Michele believes…

“Be fearlessly authentic. Bravely be you.”

-Ashley Mandell

My unique application of texture and an intriguing mix of acrylic colours define my artwork, creating a sense of depth and dimension that is both visual and tactile. Through bold brushstrokes and layered textures, I strive to bring my mountain landscapes and wildlife to life in ways that invite you to reach out and connect—immersing yourself in the moment that inspired each piece.

As my art career has evolved, I have discovered that my true passion lies in creating connection; between people, nature, and the emotions that tie us together. My creativity is my way of fostering community and giving back in ways that feel authentic to me: through meaningful, engaging, and impactful experiences that spark joy and conversation.

I am drawn to painting landscapes of hikes that are not just visually stunning but deeply memorable—places where I have felt a sense of awe, freedom, and belonging. I aim to strike a balance between artistic impression and reality, allowing my brush to flow with intuition rather than strict replication, so I can capture the essence of a place rather than just its details.

I am also drawn to all the shades that the colour blue has to offer. Blue has grown into a metaphor of uniqueness and acceptance for me; each shade telling its own story, just as we all do. It has become a signature in my work, a way to express the beauty of individuality and the courage it takes to embrace who we are. My wildlife paintings are deeply personal, each one reflecting the connections I have with people who shape my life. The animals I choose to paint embody the essence of relationships, memories, and emotions—expressed through vibrant colours and layered textures that make them as unique as the individuals who inspire them. I prefer working on a larger scale, allowing me to relive and fully immerse myself in the moments that bring these paintings to life.

Ultimately, my hope is that when you experience my work, it sparks a connection; whether to a cherished memory, a place that stirs your soul, or a feeling that resonates deeply within you.
